On September 15, buyers from Europe and America are going to start inspection of at least 2,000 apparel factories in the country to ensure proper structural designs and fire safety of the buildings. Following a fire incident in Tazreen Fashions and the collapse of a Rana Plaza factory, both groups are looking to step up regulation in the industry.

“It is good for the industry,” Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters’ Association (BGMEA) President Atiqul Islam told the Dhaka tribune Wednesday. “After getting certificates from the buyers, the manufacturers will be able to do business comfortably.”

So what does this mean for you? It means good things! The process all starts in the factories where the clothing is made, so if safety is improved in those factories then better products are made which in turn leads to better products for you and me.

The fact this has become an international issue between the U.S. and EU also shows how big of a problem it has become. Take comfort in the fact that there IS this much regulation only in the U.S. and Europe, so that companies like us can remain up to standards and deliver you the best products possible!

When you’re looking for clothing for your
